Merry Mustache

It's Christmas break and with all this time on my hands I have been completing many crafts for the wedding.  This is a feeling of excellence because time is slipping away quickly (did I mention I'm also a full time student that doesn't have much time for crafts?).  Like a busy busy bee this week I have finished the aisle arrangements for the ceremony and the floral centerpieces.  ahhhhh... accomplishment.  I deserve an A++!

Around here we really like mustaches.  Jude is both a "no shave november" and a "dirty stache december" veteran along with displaying a very merry mustache this Christmas.  He's not the only one who gets in on the upper lip action though! Don't believe me?

Here is Jude sporting his very merry Mustache

And here am I and (maid of honor) Sara Berkemeier on my 21st birthday!  We would win any merry mustache competition hands down.

One other project I have been completing is my photo station.  Photo booths have become popular and also very expensive so we decided to create our own version.  Don't worry, I'm not giving away the good part.  See now that you know there will be a photo station you can look forward to it (and I can look forward to your pictures)!!  In the process our love for mustaches has surfaced once again.

Oh yes friends...its going to be a good time.  That's my Dad by the way, who is a facial hair connoisseur if you couldn't already tell.  This was an easy project that took maybe half an hour and was super cheap!!  It would be great for any kind of party, especially for youth.  I won't give a full tutorial because it's stupendously easy!!

You need:
Stiff felt (99cents at Michaels)
Wooden Dowels (29cents at Michaels)
Scissors
A hot glue gun
Mustache Template (optional)

Its almost self explanatory.  You can use the template to create your mustaches or you can freehand it.  Just cut them out of the felt and glue them on a stick!  Easy peezy!  Obviously this is not my original idea, but sharing is always nice :)

We've finally nailed down the invite list so today I will be collecting addresses..its a long road ahead of me!  Thank goodness for my iPod and apps like myGuestList.  Also want to give a warm congratulations to all of the newly engaged couples over this Christmas season!  Especially to Angela Brubaker and Chris Biddle! Certainly does feel like the good life.

Crafting a Wedding

Hello? Is this thing on? Oh hey there. Welcome to my new blog!

I've never been good at this whole blogging thing, but I have been inspired.  Google is a friend to us all, and recently google has introduced me to some new friends: wedding blogs.  As a bride on a budget, I was amazed at all the interesting idea's ladies had and their diy projects!  I thought to myself, "I'm a lady with interesting ideas and I do lots of diy projects!" and well here I am.

Bridezilla! I've heard those words far too many times in reference to women who were the equivalent of a crazy cat lady about their wedding.  I don't wish to be one.  One reason for this blog is so that I can talk about my wedding and get it all out of my system.  That way when I actually spend time with my wonderful friends and family, we can talk about something other than my wedding.  Deal? Deal.

On that note, I would like to mention that I'm really good at ruining surprises.  Jude never lets me describe movies because I always give away the good part. One goal I have is to not spoil my wedding!  It will be difficult (even treacherous), but I am determined.  I will be able to post some pictures and little hints, but you'll have to wait for the big day to find out the rest!!

A good friend of mine once bought me one of those decal people that go on the back of your car (and eventually form a family).  It was not the typical stick figure, oh no.  This one was titled "loves to craft" and came complete with crazy curly hair, scissors, yarn, and a tool belt of crafts.  Bingo! Thats me!  I love to craft.  I'm a scrapbooker, I can crochet, I make a mean greeting card, and just about anything else you can imagine!  I must admit, its in my blood.  My mom was selling at craft shows while I was still in the womb and I  owe it all to her.  As a crafty lady, much of my wedding is diy.  I've taken on a lot, but nothing is impossible.  I will be doing my own floral and bouquets, invitations, favors, centerpieces, photo-station, cake topper, and whatever else I fancy! Don't worry, I'm not baking the cake.  We've hired Maria Giacona of La Dolce Vita to do that job, and boy do her cakes taste amazing! Trust me on this one, its not your average cake. Soaked in a simple syrup, its worth giving your arm and leg!  Just ask my mom, or my sister, or Sara Berkemeier, or Lee and Avrell Simmons who were all kind enough to go cake tasting with us!

Back to my main point: I am crafting this wedding.  Its a large undertaking, but Brother Jeff once said "if its not over your head then its not God"...or something like that.  I'm very excited to share our big day with friends and family, and just as excited to share the journey!
